Dearest friends, after it looked as though we had abandoned you for such a long time here we are back and stronger than ever. We needed a little “break” to put our upside down lives into some kind of order. Changes sometimes bring happiness and other times sadness, but mainly they show the dedication and effort to make everything turn out the way you want it, even though that can sometimes never be the case!

We have also needed this 'down' time to create new stories, ideas and mainly new works of art. Now back permanently in beautiful and vibrant Belfast, Harv´s cradle, we have so many projects in our minds and such a short time to make them happen! We always say that days should be at least 48 hours long…Little by little we will be showing you all the ideas that we have been working on and we will try to keep you interested as often and as much as possible.

We have had an incredible amount of visits to this blog since we started the project, even during the break months and we are so grateful for all your support, although we would also like to ask you for a little more participation; we know you are out there and dropping by due to the amount of visits you pay us, but we would also love to hear from you through comments, opinions and suggestions, all of which will allow us to improve the blog as well as to get to know you better!

We want to start this new stage with a collection in which Harv has been working on recently and we hope it will at least surprise you. We know that in this stage of humankind, in which practically everything has been already invented, there are very few things that can actually surprise us. Guitarists fight for the ownership of a riff, writers keep writing the same stories over and over again and the artists that paint landscapes…paint landscapes. Because of this we don´t want to declare Harv to be a pioneer of this new idea at all, but we can confirm that he has make it happen with a touch of genious and originality, so characteristic of him. This new collection is about representing people's voices and other unique sounds on a canvas in oils! Confused? Then I´ll explain myself. Probably 100% of the people who read this blog have seen on some occasion how an electrocardiogram looks like, if not in person then in a movie or a series about hospitals and doctors. It is the representation of a sound wave (here we get immersed in such a broad variety of possibilities; a voice, a cry, a sound, a song…) on a computer´s screen that reminds us of a rocky mountain, full of ups and downs, while the voice or sound that has provoked this image keeps modulating. So, we thought it would be quite original to be able to recreate from an artist´s hands the sounds that we find emotional, exciting and which evoke memories or bring out in us feelings of happiness, sadness, all emotions… This way Harv began to put paint onto canvas and we chose several examples that touch us in a very special way, the subjects for the artwork maybe being the voice of a beloved family member, perhaps the immortal phrase from a song by a legendary singer that we both admire or maybe a sentence from a movie that we have seen a million times. Because this is precisely the meaning of this collection, all sorts of feelings, and being able to decorate your house, the place where you feel most comfortable and safest, with all the emotions, memories and happy thoughts and are a huge part of our lives in this very unique, innovative and hopefully impressive way, as Harv´s painting brush is like King Midas’ hand, everything it touches becomes gold! It could not be anything less regarding this new project. Very impressive works of art that not only express sentiment, they also own it.

'JJ´s voice': This work represents the sweet voice of our beloved baby JJ saying “I love you mummy”. It was the first work of the collection and we feel a special love for it due to all that it represents, as it is not just our baby´s voice, but it also is the baby of the collection!

'Manowar and Eric Adams': This work represents part of a song of the Heavy Metal band “Manowar” and it was the second work that Harv made in this collection; those who know me well have probably already guessed that this was a personal ask as I am a very big fan of the band and its singer, Eric Adams. The phrase represented in the canvas says “We´ll carry all our dreams on a single beam of light” and it belongs to the song 'Master of the Wind' that has a very special meaning for us both.

'Braveheart': the third work of this collection is a very well-known sentence from the movie 'Braveheart' and the sound wave obviously represents the voice of actor Mel Gibson, who played the role of William Wallace, the Scottish legend who fought against the English. Curiously, although the movie represents Scottish lands, it was filmed in Ireland! The sentence, one of the most well-known in the history of cinema, says “They may take our lives, but they will never take our freedom!” and it is part of a very emotional scene, just before Wallace's army launch into battle.

'Lemmy and Motorhead': Fourth work of art realised by Harv that has a special meaning for both but especially for him, as Motorhead was the rock band that introduced him to this kind of music, back in 1979. His admiration for the Motorhead singer, Lemmy, a rock icon and a legend that sadly passed away last year 2016 and whose passing leaves a big void in the music of this genre, but his memory will not only stay in the heads and hearts of those who enjoy his music live and the millions of fans that keep playing and will play Motorhead´s music, Harv also wanted to contribute to this immortalising Lemmy´s voice in a different way, on a canvas! The image represents Lemmy´s voice singing “I was born to lose, and gambling's for fools, but that´s the way I like it baby, I don´t want to live forever!” in his more than famous song 'Ace of Spades'.

'Dumbledore and Snape': The fifth painting from the new collection seeks to pay homage to the brilliant English actor Alan Rickman who sadly passed away recently. It interprets one of his (many and wonderful) characters as Severus Snape in the movie saga Harry Potter. Alan Rickman interpreted this character in such a brilliant way that anyone who has read the Harry Potter books cannot read them without thinking of Rickman´s face and voice. I will not expand on that too much here so as not to bore those who are not followers of the Harry Potter books and movies (fools! You don´t know what you´re missing! Get those books and dvds at once!), but this image represents a moment in which Dumbledore and Snape are talking about Harry Potter´s mother, Lily, with whom Snape had been deeply in love. At this moment an image relating to Lily comes out of Snape´s magic wand at which point Dumbledore asks him “After all this time?” to which Snape answers “Always”. It is an incredibly emotional scene which will stay in the memories of Harry Potter fans forever.

'David Bowie': the sixth painting of this collection also represents the legendary David Bowie portraying a line from the chorus of his famous song “Heroes” singing with his characteristic voice “We could be heroes, just for one day”. Although in his last months of life Bowie´s image became really dark, even almost spooky, Harv has wanted to represent here the voice of the wonderful singer (and actor, let´s not forget classic movies like The Labyrinth, to name just one of the many he participated in) in his most colorful and glamorous time, with some beams of light that could be the stars of the firmament as well as the lights on a stage and a pink tones which always followed David Bowie in his glorious career.

EN ESPAÑOL!!!!

Queridos amigos, después de haberos tenido abandonados durante tanto tiempo, volvemos con más fuerza que nunca. Hemos necesitado este “descanso” para poner en orden nuestras vidas, que estaban un poco patas arriba. Los cambios siempre traen tanto alegrías como penas, pero sobre todo mucho esfuerzo y dedicación para que todo salga como quieres. ¡Aunque esta acabe no siendo la realidad en la mayoría de los casos!

También hemos necesitado este tiempo para crear nuevas historias, ideas y sobre todo piezas de arte. De vuelta en la bonita y vibrante Belfast, la ciudad natal de Harv, ¡tenemos tantos proyectos en mente y tan poco tiempo para llevarlos a cabo! Siempre decimos que los días deberían tener al menos 48 horas… Poquito a poco os iremos mostrando todas las ideas en las que hemos estado trabajando e intentaremos manteneros interesados con la mayor frecuencia posible.

Hemos tenido una increíble cantidad de visitas desde que empezamos este proyecto, incluso durante los meses de parón y os agradecemos enormemente el apoyo, aunque sí querríamos pediros algo más de participación; sabemos que estáis ahí por la cantidad de visitas que recibimos, pero nos encantaría saber de vosotros a través de comentarios, opiniones y sugerencias que pudierais hacernos, tanto para mejorar el blog como para simplemente conoceros.

Queremos comenzar esta nueva etapa con una colección en la que Harv ha estado trabajando recientemente y que esperamos os sorprenda cuanto menos. Sabemos que, en este momento de la etapa del hombre en el que prácticamente todo está inventado, hay pocas cosas que sorprendan. Los guitarristas se pelean por declararse dueños de tal o cual riff, los escritores narran las mismas historias con diferentes personajes una y otra vez, y los artistas que pintan paisajes…pintan paisajes. Por esto no queremos decir que Harv ha sido pionero de esta idea ni mucho menos, pero sí que la ha llevado a cabo con un toque de ingenio y originalidad, como es característico en él. Esta nueva colección trata de representar ondas sonoras en un lienzo… ¿No? Me explico. Seguramente el 100% de la gente que nos lee ha visto en alguna ocasión cómo es un electrocardiograma, si no en persona en alguna película o serie de médicos y hospitales. Se trata de la representación de una onda sonora (aquí nos metemos de lleno en una increíble variedad de posibilidades; una voz, un llanto, un sonido, una pieza musical…) en una pantalla de ordenador que recuerda a una montaña rocosa, llena de altibajos, según se va modulando la voz o el sonido que ha provocado esta imagen. Pues bien, se nos ocurrió que sería bastante original poder imprimir de la mano de un artista los sonidos que a nosotros nos resultan emotivos, excitantes, que nos evocan recuerdos o nos provocan sensaciones de alegría, de tristeza, de emoción… De modo que Harv se puso manos a la obra y escogimos unos cuantos ejemplos que a nosotros nos llegan de manera más especial, bien porque se trate de la voz de un ser querido, la voz inmortal de un cantante fallecido al que ambos admiramos, o la frase de una película que nos encanta y hemos visto tropecientas veces. Porque de eso precisamente se trata esta colección, de emociones de todo tipo, de poder adornar tu casa, el lugar donde más a gusto y más a salvo te encuentras, con las emociones, los recuerdos y las alegrías que forman parte de nuestra vida, de una forma innovadora y sobre todo impactante, pues el pincel mágico de Harv es como la mano del Rey Midas, que convierte en oro todo lo que toca y no podía ser menos con este nuevo proyecto. Impresionantes obras de arte que no solamente expresan sentimiento, sino que también lo tienen.

"La voz de JJ": Esta obra representa la dulce voz de nuestro querido bebé JJ, diciendo “I love you, mami”. Fue la primera obra de la colección y le guardamos un especial cariño por todo lo que representa, no solamente es la voz de nuestro bebé plasmada en un lienzo, ¡sino también el bebé de la colección!

Manowar y Eric Adams: Esta obra representa parte de una canción del grupo de Heavy Metal “Manowar” y fue la segunda obra que Harv realizó de esta colección; los que me conozcan ya habrán adivinado que esta fue una petición personal mía pues soy una fan declarada del grupo y una enamorada de la voz de su cantante, Eric Adams. La frase representada en el lienzo dice “We´ll carry all our dreams on a single beam of light” y pertenece a la canción “Master of the Wind” que tiene un significado muy especial para nosotros.

"Braveheart": la tercera obra de esta colección es una muy conocida frase de la película Braveheart y la onda sonora obviamente representa la voz del actor Mel Gibson, que hacía el papel de William Wallace, la leyenda escocesa que luchó contra los ingleses. Curiosamente, aunque la película representa las tierras escocesas, ¡fue rodada en Irlanda! La frase, una de las más conocidas de la historia del cine, dice “They may take our lives, but they will never take our freedom!” y forma parte de una escena muy emotiva, justo antes de lanzarse a la batalla. Traducida significa, “Podrán quitarnos la vida, pero nunca nos quitarán la libertad”.

"Lemmy y Motorhead": Cuarta obra realizada por Harv que tiene un especial significado para ambos, pero sobre todo para él, pues Motorhead fue la banda de rock que le introdujo en el mundo de la música, allá en el año 1979. Su admiración por el cantante de Motorhead, Lemmy, un icono del rock y una leyenda que tristemente falleció el año pasado, 2016 y que deja un enorme vacío en la música de este género, pero que no solamente permanecerá en los recuerdos de aquellos que disfrutamos de su música en directo y de los millones de fans que aún los escuchan y los escucharán, Harv también ha querido poner su granito de arena inmortalizando de otra manera la voz del gran Lemmy, ¡en un lienzo! La imagen representa la voz de Lemmy cantando “I was born to lose, and gambling is for fools, but that´s the way I like it baby, I don´t wanna live forever!” en su más que famosísima canción Ace of Spades.

"Harry Potter y Snape": El quinto lienzo de la colección quiere rendir homenaje al brillante actor inglés Alan Rickman, tristemente fallecido no hace mucho tiempo, interpretando uno de sus (muchos y maravillosos) personajes como Severus Snape, en la saga de películas de Harry Potter. Alan Rickman interpretó este personaje de forma tan maravillosa que cualquiera que haya leído los libros de la saga, no puede volver a leerlos sin imaginarse a Snape con el rostro y definitivamente la voz del actor. No me extenderé mucho aquí para no aburrir a los que no sean seguidores de la saga de Harry Potter (¡insensatos!!No sabéis lo que os estáis perdiendo! ¡A comprarse los libros ahora mismo!), pero esta imagen representa un momento en el que Dumbledore y Snape están hablando acerca de Harry Potter y una imagen relacionada con Lily, la madre de Harry de la que Snape había estado enamorado surge de la varita mágica de Snape, a lo que Dumbledore pregunta “After all this time?- ¿después de tanto tiempo?” y Snape responde “Always – Siempre”. Es una escena increíblemente emotiva que se ha quedado en la memoria de muchos fans de Harry Potter.

"David Bowie": la última obra (por el momento) de esta colección representa al también tristemente fallecido cantante David Bowie en su famosísima canción “Heroes” cantando con su característica voz “We could be heroes just for one day- Podríamos ser héroes solamente por un día”. Aunque en sus últimos meses de vida la imagen de Bowie se oscureció enormemente hasta convertirse en casi tétrica, aquí Harv ha querido representar la voz del magnífico cantante (y actor, no nos olvidemos de clásicos de cine tan inolvidables como El Laberinto, por nombrar solamente una de las muchas películas en las que participó) en su época más glam y colorida, con unos destellos de luz que podrían ser tanto estrellas del firmamento como luces de un escenario y un color rosado que siempre ha perseguido a las imágenes de David Bowie en su época más glamourosa.
