Para presentaros este increíble retrato del famosísimo músico irlandés Van Morrison queremos haceros partícipes de algunas historias "curiosas" acerca del temperamento de esta leyenda de la música que nuestro artista Harv conoce de primera mano.

Las estrellas del rock son muy conocidas por ser bastante temperamentales y actuar de manera impulsiva. Durante el recorrido musical de Harv, este ha tenido la suerte de que la mayoría de estrellas que ha conocido han sido bastante normales y amables por lo que nunca había tenido la sensación de "pánico" al conocer a una nueva rockstar. Esta sensación iba a ser puesta a prueba al límite cuando tuvo la oportunidad de pasar un rato en compañía de Van Morrison.

Harv tiene algunos amigos que tenían contacto regular con esta leyenda irlandesa y que compartieron con él experiencias que vivieron junto a Van Morrison, también conocido como Van"The Man" que no están documentadas en ningún otro sitio y son absolutamente personales.
El agente musical de Harv le contó en una ocasión la experiencia que tuvo cuando acompañó a Van Morrison a un concierto de los Rolling Stones en América. Mick Jagger se enteró de que Van Morrison y el agente de Harv se encontraban en la misma ciudad donde iba a celebrarse el concierto de los Rolling Stones y decidió que quería que Van subiera con ellos al escenario para tocar la harmónica y hacer con ellos una versión de alguna canción del cantante irlandés. 
Van Morrison accedió a regañadientes pero insistió en que le pusieran una caravana en la zona del concierto para poder descansar y prepararse su actuación. Cuando esta estuvo preparada Van Morrison y el agente de Harv se dirigieron entonces hacia allí y Van dijo que iba a descansar un rato.
Los Rolling Stones llegaron para realizar la prueba de sonido y les avisaron de que Van Morrison ya estaba en su caravana. Mick Jagger le pidió al agente si podía ir a ver a Van un rato antes del concierto. El agente se acercó hasta la caravana y llamó a la puerta. Cuando salió a abrirle un soñoliento Van Morrison, el agente le preguntó "¿te importa si Mick se pasa un rato a verte?", a lo que Van Morrison contestó con malas pulgas: "¿Y quién c*ño es Mick?". El agente contestó " ¿Quién va a ser? Mick Jagger! El cantante de los Rolling Stones!". Van Morrison, mirándole fijamente, le dijo "Que le den. Dile que me duele el estómago".
No hace falta decir que el agente nunca pasó el mensaje a Mick Jagger literalmente pero se acordó finalmente que Van Morrison se uniera a ellos directamente en el escenario.
Durante el concierto, que se celebraba en un estadio, Mick Jagger anunció varias veces que tenían un invitado especial que iba a subirse al escenario con ellos a interpretar algunos temas. Cuando llegó el momento y Mick Jagger anunció que Van Morrison estaba con ellos, este salió de su caravana y en vez de dirigirse hacia la izquierda para ir hacia el escenario, se puso a caminar hacia la derecha y le dijo al agente "A la mierda!! Tengo hambre, vamos a comernos una hamburguesa". Se giró y salió el estadio. 

Otro buen amigo de Harv trabaja muy estrechamente con la temperamental leyenda ejerciendo las funciones de ingeniero de estudio y productor cuando Van The Man quiere grabar en el estudio que se hizo construir en su casa de Irlanda del Norte. Van Morrison acude a este lugar con muy poca frecuencia, pero cuando surge la ocasión en la que acaba de tener una idea brillante para una canción y quiere grabarla inmediatamente llama a este amigo de Harv, que tiene que estar disponible a cualquier hora del día o de la noche para abrir el estudio y grabar con Van Morrison.
En cierta ocasión y encontràndose en otro país, Van Morrison tuvo una idea para una canción y llamó al amigo de Harv para que abriera el estudio y lo tuviera toodo preparado para su llegada.
La reputación de Van Morrison siempre le precede y el que espera su llegada siempre lo hace con un cierto nerviosismo. En esta ocasión Van llegó de muy buen humor al estudio, lo que hizo que el pobre productor tuviera una falsa sensación de libertad en lo que se refiere a comentar la actuación musical de Van durante la grabación del tema.
Todo parecía ir bien pero durante la última grabación el productor amigo de Harv cometió el terrible error de decirle a Van Morrison que en la última toma que acababan de grabar había desafinado un poco al cantar. Dándose cuenta de lo que había hecho, el productor tragó saliva y se preparó para la tormenta que se avecinaba. Sin embargo Van se quitó los cascos, dijo que ya habían hecho bastante por aquel día, le dio las gracias al productor y se fue, cogiendo un vuelo de vuelta al país desde donde se había desplazado para grabar.
El productor suspiró aliviado por haberse librado de la furia que su comentario podía haber provocado en el cantante y pensaba que debido a la manera relajada en la que Van Morrison había salido del estudio, quizás no le hubiera oído bien cuando le comentó que estaba desafinando y contento con el resultado se olvidó del asunto y se fue a casa.
Muchos meses pasaron sin que Van Morrison se pusiera en contacto con él en relación con esta grabación cuando de repente un día sonó el teléfono y al ver que era el número privado de Van y habiendo pasado tanto tiempo desde este último encuentro, supuso que el cantante quería citarle para grabar algo nuevo. Se había pasado tanto tiempo entre aquel encuentro y esta llamada telefónica que era normal asumir que el cantante quería hablar de nuevas ideas para otra grabación.
De modo que el productor cogió el teléfono esperando que Van le pidiera que abriera el estudio. Sin embargo, meses después de su último encuentro, escuchó al otro lado del teléfono la voz enfurecida de Van Morrison que le gritó, nada más descolgar: "¿Qué c*ño quieres decir con que desafino? !Yo nunca desafino!!".
El monólogo telefónico consistió básicamente en una bronca monumental por parte del legendario músico irlandés a su productor en Irlanda del Norte. Ni que decir tiene que a partir de ese momento el productor amigo de Harv se cuidó muy mucho de medir sus comentarios con respecto a las siguientes grabaciones del cantante.

La tercera parte de esta historia se refiere a la única vez que Harv estuvo de hecho en compañía de Van Morrison. Esto ocurrió durante las sesiones de grabación del primer album del grupo de Harv Stormzone, "Caught in the Act", que se estaba llevando a cabo en los estudios Home Stead, propiedad del legendario productor Mudd Wallace. Mudd había trabajado previamente con todos los grandes de la escena musical irlandesa, incluyendo por supuesto a Van Morrison.
Había llegado a oidos de Van Morrison, probablemente a través del mismo Mudd Wallace, que conocía muy bien al cantante, de que las sesiones de grabación de Stormzone iban a incluir grabaciones con un órgano Hammond original de 1960 y una guitarra vintage Fender Telecaster. Mudd sabía que Van querría probar ambos instrumentos.
Van Morrison sabía que estos instrumentos se encontraban previamente en el estudio de Mudd Wallace, pero no había mostrado ningún interés por ellos porque aparentemente estaban estropeados. De hecho, el órgano Hammond no funcionaba y por lo visto era irreparable. Habían llamado incluso a un técnico especialista en teclados para que pudiera ponerlo en marcha pero no había logrado hacerlo funcionar.
Durante una de las sesiones de grabación de Stormzone, Mudd se encontraba preparando un té en la cocina del estudio cuando escuchó a alguien tocando el órgano Hammond. Cuando acudió corriendo al estudio vio a Harv al lado del órgano, sonriendo. Mudd le preguntó "¿Cómo has logrado arreglarlo?, a lo que Harv respondió "Ha sido un proceso muy complicado, le di una patada". Desde aquel momento el órgano cumplió sus funciones a la perfección. 
La guitarra Fender Telecaster también se encontraba en un estado bastante delicado, pero aún así el guitarrista de Stormzone, Keith, logró hacerle un apaño enchufando un cable que iba desde las pastillas hasta los pedales para no electrocutarse, haciendo que la Telecaster pudiera tocarse e incluso grabaron con ella parte del album.
Algunos días después Harv llegó al estudio de grabación encontrándose con un Mudd muy nervioso que disculpándose le indicó que no podrían grabar esa tarde, pues Van Morrison iba a acudir a inspeccionar los dos instrumentos. Aunque a Harv no le hizo gracia no poder grabar ese día, se alegró de que por fin iba a conocer al legendario Van Morrison.
Cuando se iba acercando la hora en la que Van Morrison acudiría al estudio la tensión fue creciendo cada vez más y Mudd tuvo la brillante idea de darle a Harv algunos consejos antes de la llegada del músico. "Quédate quieto, déjame hablar a mí, no le mires directamente a los ojos, no te muestres tímido tampoco y aparenta confianza en ti mismo y sobre todo no le hables a no ser que él te pregunte antes". En este momento el móvil de Mudd sonó, avisándole de que Van Morrison acababa de aparcar el coche en la puerta.
Mudd y Harv se sentaron en la mesa de grabación, detrás del cristal que la separa de la cabina de grabación donde se encontraban ya colocados el órgano Hammond y la guitarra Telecaster.
Harv vio la silueta de Van Morrison pasar tras el cristal, nunca entró en la sala de control para saludar y dirigió sus pasos directamente hacia los instrumentos. Rodeó una vez el Hammond, mirándolo y se dirigió hacia la guitarra. La cogió, se la colgó al cuello, se la acercó a la cara para examinarla y tocar los controles del volumen, tocó un acorde, se quitó la guitarra, la volvió a dejar en su soporte, dijo "Joder!", se dio la vuelta y salió a la calle. Todo esto en un espacio de tiempo de 4 minutos.
Se metió en su coche y se fue.
Harv miró a Mudd incrédulo y le preguntó "¿Eso ha sido bueno o malo?", a lo que Mudd contestó, encogiéndose de hombros "Harv, acabas de conocer a Van Morrison y has salido ileso, de modo que deduzco que ha sido bueno". 


IN ENGLISH!!!!

Famous rockstars are known to be temperamental at times and thankfully during the course of Harv's musical career most of the stars that he has met have been decent and kind and therefore if he has had the opportunity to meet famous musicians he has never really felt the need to feel any sense of fear. This was going to be tested to the maximum when faced with the very rare opportunity of spending some time in the company of Van Morrison.
Harv has friends who have had regular contact with the Irish icon and who have been happy to share experiences that they have had with Van "The Man" that would not be well documented and just personal to them. 
Harv's musical agent told him of a time that he accompanied the legendary Van Morrison to a Rolling Stones concert in America. Mick Jagger had discovered that Van Morrison and Harv's agent were spending time in the city in which the Rolling Stones were doing a concert and he decided that he wanted Van to join them on stage to play harmonica and accompany them as they were going to play one of Van's songs. 
Van Morrison reluctantly agreed but insisted on a trailer being made available for him so that he could spend some time alone preparing for his appearance. 
Van Morrison and Harv's agent then made their way to the concert venue upon which Van entered his trailer saying he was going to rest for a while.
The Rolling Stones appeared for sound checking and discovering that Van the Man was also there Mick Jagger asked the agent if he could meet him. The agent made his way to Van Morrison's trailer, knocked the door and a sleepy headed Van opened the door. The agent asked "is it ok if Mick comes and has a word with you?". Van looked quizzingly at him and blurted out "Mick f*cking who?". To which the agent replied, "Mick Jagger of course!The Rolling Stones singer!", to which Van Morrison sharply replied: "Ach, tell him to f*ck off, I have a sore stomach".
Needless to say the agent never quite passed the message exactly as Van had portraited and it was left that he would just be required to get up on stage to join the Rolling Stones.
Concert time arrived and Mick Jagger had announced several times that they had a very special guest and getting closer to the time Van Morrison made his way to the corridor heading to the stage and upon hearing Mick Jagger announce that Van Morrison was in the building, instead of turning left to make his way to the stage, Van looked at the agent and said "F*ck this, I´m hungry, come on we´ll get a hamburger". Turned right and left the stadium.

Another of Harv´s good friends works very closely with the temperamental star as his studio engineer and producer when Van The Man wants to record in the studio he had built in his  home in Northern Ireland. Van Morrison is very rarely there but when the occasion arises that he wants to record a fresh idea Harv´s friend has to be ready to answer the call, be at the studio no matter what time of day or night.
For some reason while out of the country Van had decided that a new idea that had popped into his head just had to be captured in his home studio and the arrangements were made for the producer to have everything set up and ready for the recording. Van Morrison´s reputation always precedes him and it is always with trepidation that everyone anticipates his arrival.
On this occasion he seemed quite upbeat and unusually happy which may have led the producer into a false sense of confidence where mentioning Van´s performances in the studio were concerned. 
Everything seemed to be going well but during a last take Harv´s producer friend fatally mentioned that perhaps Van had sang a particular line a little out of tune. Realising what he had just done, the producer gulped and anticipated the fury which he was expecting to follow. Instead, there was a very uneasy calm during which time Van took off his headphones, said that that was enough for the evening, thanked Harv´s friend and left, bound for the airport, to return to the foreign country he had travelled from to do the recording.
The producer breathed a huge sight of relief because there had not been an explosion in the studio as a result of his comment and was under the impression that because of the relaxed way that Van Morrison left the studio, perhaps he had not heard exactly what has been said about singing out of tune and so happy with this miraculous outcome he forgot about it and went home.
Months past without Van Morrison being in contact regarding any further recording when suddenly the phone went and the producer automatically assumed as it was Van Morrison´s private line that the star wanted to return to do more vocals. Such a long time had past between now and those original recordings that it was natural to assume that the phone call was about new ideas.
So the producer very happily picked up the phone expecting to hear Van making a request for him to make the studio ready when instead months after he had seen him, he heard Van Morrison´s angry voice bellowing down the phone: "What the f*ck do you mean I was out of tune?", "I never sing out of tune!!".
The whole one sided telephone conversation was basically the producer getting a very belated telling off from the irate rock legend. Needless to say there was more care taken with regards to comments about Van´s performances in the studio from that moment onward.

The third part of this instalment involves the one and only time that Harv actually managed to find himself in the company of Van Morrison. This was during the recording sessions of the first Stormzone album, "Caught in the Act", which were taking place in Home Stead Studios in Northern Ireland which was owned by legendary producer Mudd Wallace. Mudd had previously worked with most of the greats of the Irish music scene, including of course Van Morrison. Word had spread to Van Morrison, probably from Mudd himself as he knew the famous Irish singer very well, that the Stormzone recording sessions were featuring an original 1960´s Hammond Organ and a vintage Fender Telecaster guitar, both of which Mudd knew that Van Morrison would want to check out. 
Van knew that Mudd had both of these instruments in his studio but had shown no previous interest because both were apparently broken. The Hammond Organ was indeed out of order and apparently unfixable. Many attempts had been made to get it working, including a visit from an apparent keyboard specialist who got power to it but still failed to ignite. While Mudd was making tea he heard the sound of the organ and run to see Harv smiling beside it. "How did you fix it?" Mudd asked. To which Harv replied: "It was a very complicated procedure, I gave it a boot". And from then on the Hammond keyboard was deamed feat for purpose.
The guitar was in a fragile state but having been used by Stormzone guitarist Keith on several songs during which times he found himself playing the guitar with a wire attached to the pick-ups and running to the effect units to earth it, so he would not electrify himself and therefore the Telecaster was deamed feat for purpose also.
Harv arrived at the studio a few days after these revelations to encounter a very nervous Mudd Wallace who apologised saying that the afternoon recording session was going to have to be postponed because Van Morrison was visiting the studio to see the Hammond and play the guitar. Needless to say although Harv was disappointed at not being able to record that day, he was really looking forward to meeting the legendary Van Morrison.
As the morning progressed and Van´s arrival was closer the tension in the studio built and Mudd was kind enough to give Harv some valuable advice when it came to the etiquette involved in coming face to face with Van Morrison. "Stay quiet, let me speak, do not look him directly in the eyes, do not seem timid, be confident and only say anything if he actually asks you something". A which point his mobile rang to say that Van had pulled up outside.
Mudd and Harv sat at the recording desk, behind the glass of the performance room where the Hammond and the Telecaster were plugged in and ready for Van´s inspection.
Harv saw the shape of Van Morrison passing by the glass, he never entered the control room to say hello, he made his way directly to the instruments. He walked around the Hammond once and never responded when Mudd asked him through the intercom if everything was alright. He just nodded his head and walked over to the Telecaster, pulled the strap over his neck, lifted it up to examine it, turned up some volume controls, strummed one chord, took the guitar off, sat it back in its stand, said "F*ck!", turn around and left the studio.
Got into his car and drove off.
Harv looked at Mudd in desbelieve and asked "What that good or bad?" to which Mudd shrugged his shoulders and said "Harv, you just met Van Morrison, you are in one piece, it must have been good".
